Kiki Mordi reveals she received threats over investigation

For investigating and exposing sexual harassment in some West African universities, BBC Africa Eye journalist, Kiki Mordi, has claimed that she received threats after completing her investigations. Mordi who disclosed this in an interview she had with Sahara Reporters, said though there are subtle threats, she is not bothered because the BBC takes the security of employees seriously.

According to her, the team's unity helped in calming her nerves before she embarked on the investigation. Going further, she also revealed that she had to go through training, reading and research before the investigation.

She added that the change she really desire has started manifesting since the release of the documentary. However, she note that more should be done to halt sexual harassment in African universities.
“I am happy that a lot is changing already since the documentary was release and I can confirm to you that one of the lecturers at the University of Lagos caught sexually harassing a prospective student has been dismissed by the institution,” she said. “I believe it doesn’t stop there until there is a conviction. We have to break that culture of impunity,” she said.
